Deborah Friberg


Originally from the USA, Deborah went to medical school at the University of Otago and then completed her urological training in New Zealand, followed by a year specialising in functional urology and female reconstructive surgery at Concord Repatriation General Hospital in Sydney, Australia. On returning to New Zealand, she worked with Dr Eva Fong and Dr Sum Sum Lo in Auckland, further specialising in urodynamics, male and female incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse surgery. In this unit, she also cared for women suffering from complications of female pelvic and urogynaecological mesh. She takes a holistic approach with the female pelvic floor dealing with urinary leakage, vaginal prolapse, pain and infection.



Alongside her interest in these specialities at Urology Associates, Deborah has a broad general urology practice, including investigation of abnormal PSA, transperineal prostate biopsy, and urinary stone disease. She is a urologist at Christchurch Hospital, a Clinical Senior Lecturer, University of Otago, Christchurch, and a trustee of Canterbury Urology Research Trust.
